West Lancashire · A community campaign

They asked. We answered. They ignored us.

West Lancashire chose to keep our children's A&E at Ormskirk. The NHS is moving it 8 miles to Southport anyway. We're not letting it happen quietly.

Our hospital, our decision

This is our children's A&E. We were asked. We answered.

Our children's A&E is the place you run to at 2am when your child can't breathe, when the temperature won't come down, when they've fallen and something isn't right. For families across West Lancashire, that place is Ormskirk.

In 2025 the NHS asked us what we wanted. More than 7,840 of us answered, and keeping the children's A&E at Ormskirk came out on top. In March 2026 they moved it to Southport anyway — 8 miles away, £33 million, at least three years in the making.

This isn't a fight with the doctors and nurses we love. It's a fight with the people who ran a consultation, heard the answer, and pressed ahead regardless. There is still a way to stop it — and it starts with your name.

The ask

The Health Secretary must formally call in the decision before any work begins.

And Andy Burnham — the incoming Prime Minister, whose own constituency is 8 miles away — must instruct his Health Secretary to do it in his first week.
